AccuScan
Diameter & Ovality Measurement Systems

AccuScan systems from Beta LaserMike provide on-line precision measurements of the diameter and ovality of products. Using laser scanning technology, AccuScan systems are able to perform diameter measurements in an intelligent gauge head during production and communicate those measurements to a host system or controller.

Beta LaserMike offers two models:

• AccuScan 1000 and 4000 series gauges are single-plane laser scanners that measure only diameter. The new AccuScan 4012 single-axis diameter gauge has all the powerful features of the larger AccuScan 5000 series, but in a compact, cost-efficient package.
• AccuScan 5000 series gauges are dual-plane laser scanners that measure both diameter and ovality.

Beta LaserMike also offers:

CenterScan 2010
Non-Contact Eccentricity Measurement System

When the core of insulated wire and cable moves off-center, your product quality suffers. And with the increasingly tighter tolerances demanded by users, unchecked wire or cable eccentricity can leave you with reels of unusable product.

The CenterScan 2010 measurement system accurately and reliably monitors the diameter of insulated wire and cable, and eccentricity of conductors, during extrusion and insulation processes. This intelligent gauge never touches your product and enables you to run higher line speeds and produce more finished wire and cable in less time while maintaining the highest level of measurement accuracy.

UltraScan
Wall & Concentricity Measurement Systems

UltraScan systems from Beta LaserMike provide on-line precision measurements of product wall thickness and concentricity, with an option for also measuring diameter and ovality. Using ultrasonic technology, UltraScan systems are able to make high-speed, non-contact measurements during production.

Depending on the application, UltraScan gauges are available to cover various product diameter and wall thickness sizes in both fixed and adjustable transducer distance styles. Each supports multiple transducers and is capable of measuring several layers.

Non-Contact Length and Speed Laser Encoder

The LaserSpeed encoder by Beta LaserMike measures the length and speed of any moving surface with better than ±0.05% accuracy and without ever contacting the product. It is a proven performer in a wide range of industrial applications.

LayScan
Lay Length Measurement System

Beta LaserMike’s LayScan measurement system (patent pending) accurately and consistently measures the lay length of twisted pairs used in telecommunication cables. The system uses optical, non-contact measurement technology to perform on-line, high-speed lay length measurements with the highest accuracy. Providing high-data rate capabilities, LayScan precisely determines the variations in lay length within each lay. This enables you to observe systematic lay variations that are typically caused by twinning and cabling operations.

CapScan
Drift-Free, In-Process Capacitance Measurement Solution

As datacom cable manufacturers face more challenging specifications for Structural Return Loss, Near- and Far-end Cross Talk and Attenuation, it’s more important than ever to catch problems as they develop – not after the fact. Because downgrading or rejecting finished cable robs you of productivity and profitability. That’s why correlating in-process and post-process measurement results accurately and consistently is so important.

The CapScan 2000 gauging system solves this problem by enabling you to correlate in-process and post-process measurements through on-line, high-speed measurement of cable capacitance. A combination of low signal-to-noise ratio and proprietary, drift-free electronics enable the system to deliver highly accurate and consistent measurements. With a local intelligence module directly connected to the measurement head, the CapScan 2000 system can communicate directly to DataPro controllers or other host systems.

Fault Detection Systems
Pinpoint on-line cable problems fast

Beta LaserMike offers fault detection systems to immediately reveal cable problems online before they become costly production issues. Our fault detection systems include:

• LN Detector series – detects short-term faults in the diameter of cable (lumps or neckdowns).
• Spark Testers – provides on-line detection of faults in cable insulation, such as voids and pin holes.

Wire Preheating Systems
In-Process Wire Heating

Preheaters from Beta LaserMike provide uniform, in-process wire heating to eliminate insulation voids in primary cables. When a wire is preheated for only fractions of a second by a low frequency (50/60 Hz) heat cycle, the heat is unevenly applied to the wire, resulting in hot and cold spots. When high frequency preheating is used, more heat cycles are applied to the wire, ensuring more consistent heating all along the length of the wire. For this reason, all Beta LaserMike Preheaters use high frequency heating. Beta LaserMike offers a full range of models to meet your unique wire preheating needs.

Off-line Dimensional Measurement Systems

FiberMike
Optical Fiber Measurement System

FiberMike is a complete draw tower solution that uses diameter gauges, flaw detectors, and a measurement processor to monitor each stage of your process. Diameter gauges use a flattened measurement response to provide sub-micron measurement accuracy at the cladding, primary and secondary buffer coating stages. A flaw detector checks for internal and external flaws after the secondary buffer coating. The FiberMike processor displays data both numerically and graphically, providing accurate, real-time data and perform position control.

DataPro
Process Control & Data Management Systems

Beta LaserMike’s DataPro controller series, when coupled with dimensional measurement instrumentation and a versatile set of I/O capabilities, enable you to produce superior quality products by providing all the information and control capability you need to keep your production process running smoothly. SRL Pro
On-Line Structural Return Loss Prediction

SRL Pro software from Beta LaserMike provides on-line structural return loss (SRL) prediction and analysis. By monitoring process variables at extremely high speeds, SRL Pro identifies potential causes of SRL problems on datacom cable insulation lines in real time. When datacom cables fail post-process compliance inspection and must be downgraded, the profitability of the entire run is lost. That is why the capability of detecting SRL problems before the run is completed allows an investment in SRL Pro to often be recovered in a matter of weeks or even days.
